Training Session with Sensei Afiat & Co.

Last June 9th, for almost a week we had a privilege of training with Sensei Afiat and two world class champions, Ss. Faisal & Ss. Sukamawati. It was a great exeperience not only for the seniors but also the new kenshis. We had great learning time on compositions of embus and preparations for competition. 2 dojo take turns on hosting the training sessions, The Kepayan Dojo, headed  by Sensei Vallin and assisted by Ss.Awad, while The Moyog Dojo, headed by Sensei Joseph Cispin & assisted by Ss. Willie Gom. The young kenshis had fun learning with Sensei Faisal while our ladies champions ( Betsy, Jenny & Vivian) goes under the guidance of Sensei Sukmawati. We trained almost everyday, weekends included except for a day when Sensei Afiat& co.spent their time with Kota Marudu's Kenshis. It was indeed a great time for learning and we look forward to more sessions with them. Gassho Rei.

After the dust settles down

After the dust settles down these were the champions of the 1st Sabah Shorinji Kempo Competition, though everybody gained a lot on this 1st event. No it was not a perfect one but we build from here and gear up for better event in the future. Above all we did come together and get to know more kenshis from near and far. To the organiser well done and do it better and continue on. For the kenshis, push on, train and learn harder, persevere and commit for success. Gassho Rei!

Tik Tok tik tok.. just 2 more days to go.

2 more days to go for the Sabah Shorinji Kempo Taikai, wow it felt just like yesterday thinking about this event and now its already peeping aroundthe corner. Come sunday 5th June 2011, more than 100 kenshis and elders of Sabah Shorinji kempo will fill the hall of All Saints, team from Miri, Sarawak and KL are also expected to be there. Embu, Kata & Randori are the main events, seminar will follow after the tournament. But what is more important is the fellowship of all kenshis from near and far, the spirit of brotherhood of Shorinji kempo will be lighted this weekend, not of the color of our belt, skin, eyes, not of our race our beliefs but as brothers and sisters that God created and this event will make it possible.

Not an easy grading but they put up their best with their sweat and true Shorinji Kempo attitude. Tested by Sensei David Chin, the kenshis goes through a comprehensive grading. Started at 10.30am and ended at 1.30pm. Kihon, Ukemi, Tanen, Goho, Juho, Random was the main dishes they have to go through.  Congratulations to their hard earned upgrade. Gassho Rei!!!

READY FOR 5TH OF JUNE!!

A special training with Perkemi President Indra & Delegates

On the 27th of April a special training session with Sensei Indra, the president of Perkemi Indonesia & his team was held at the Millennium Dojo. He was here to brief on the judging and other criteria for the up coming South East Asia Games which will be in November in Indonesia. We also did a practical on handling randori bouts and some technical's aspects of embu. We look forward for more training with our brothers from Indonesia. Gassho Rei!
